Good morning, Lancaster!

The Super Bowl is this Sunday, which means two things: it's almost time to crown the Best Pizza in Lancaster County, and you've got just a few days left to cast your vote. But first, we want to introduce you to a very good boy who's been making a big difference for local veterans and racking up followers along the way.

Here's what we have for you this week:

  • First Friday events and the best of the weekend

  • Last call for the Lancaster Pizza Playoffs

  • Meet Siri, Lancaster's most famous service dog

  • The Conestoga River is PA's River of the Year!

Last Call: Lancaster Pizza Playoffs 🍕

More than 3,000 people have voted for their favorite pizza shop, but there’s still time to rally behind your favorite spot. Voting closes on Super Bowl Sunday.

The leaderboard here shows where things stand heading into the final days. When you vote, you’ll see the most up-to-date results.

The Conestoga Wins River of the Year

Some news worth celebrating: the Conestoga River has been named Pennsylvania's 2026 River of the Year.

The 61-mile waterway, which winds past covered bridges and working farms, beat out the Lower Schuylkill River by fewer than 200 votes in a statewide poll. It's the first time in the award's 43-year history that the Conestoga has won.

The Conestoga River Club, which nominated the river, will receive a $15,000 grant to fund a year of celebrations, including river cleanups, community floats, and Lancaster Water Week events.

The club is dedicating the honor to the memory of Ad Crable, a personal hero of mine (Adam), and the environmental journalist who spent 37 years writing about Lancaster County's waterways and championed the Conestoga's careful stewardship. It's a fitting tribute to someone who helped many of us see this river and the outdoors more clearly.

If you've never paddled the Conestoga, 2026 is the year to change that.
